Herkimer, NY— The Community Independence Day Celebration, presented by the Herkimer County Community College Alumni Association, will be held Thursday, July 1 on the HCCC campus.
The event features a live performance by The Posers beginning at 7 p.m. followed by a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. The Posers is a local classic rock band with a selection of songs that appeal to a wide range of listeners.
A Brooks Chicken Barbecue, sponsored by the Boy Scouts, will be available starting at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center. An open photography show will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with an awards presentation taking place at 6:30 p.m. in the Cogar Gallery. DJ entertainment and concessions to benefit local non-profit organizations will be available throughout the evening.
The celebration is open to the public. The fireworks, musical entertainment and viewing of the photography show are free. The event is sponsored by the Herkimer County Community College Alumni Association, The Polish Community Home, Inc. of Herkimer, The Telegram, The Times, WXUR, WNRS and WKTV News Channel 2 and is also supported by many local businesses, organizations and agencies.
