State Police Arrest Father, Son on Assault Charges

(Herkimer, NY – July 6, 2010) – State Police in Herkimer arrested father and son Michael R. Massey, 49 years old, of 393 Route 8 Bridgewater and Michael J. Massey, 24 years old, of 425 Mapledale Road, Bridgewater for Assault in the Second Degree (Class D Felony).

The arrests came as a result of a complaint from an individual who reported that he was assaulted by both father and son on July 2, 2010 while at the West Winfield Field Days in the West Winfield Town Park. The victim’s jaw was broken during the assault and he was later treated at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica.

The father, Michael R. Massey, was arraigned in the Town of Winfield Court on July 4 and was remanded to the Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

The son, Michael J. Massey, was arraigned in the Town of Winfield Court on July 5 and was released on $1,500 cash bail.

Both are scheduled to reappear in the Town of Winfield Court on July 21, 2010.
