Science Fair Winners Announced

Herkimer, NY—Herkimer County Community College has announced the winners of its Jr./Sr. High School Science Fair, sponsored by Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc. Students in Herkimer County Jr./Sr. High Schools and Herkimer County home schooled students were invited to participate. Nineteen students entered from Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School, Herkimer BOCES, Mohawk Valley Christian Academy and Owen D. Young.

In the senior high category, the winners are:

1^st Prize: Daniel Watson, Automated Combat Vehicle, (Mohawk Valley Christian Academy)

2^nd Prize: Susan Smith, Going Black?, (Mohawk Valley Christian Academy)

3^rd Prize: Jacob Catlin, Relationship Between Mass and Projectile Distance, (Herkimer BOCES)

The junior high winners are:

1^st Prize and Overall Champion: Andrew Perkins, Heat Transfer, (Mohawk Valley Christian Academy)

2^nd Prize: Chris Maine, Snowmaking, (Mohawk Valley Christian Academy)

3^rd Prize (tie): Mary Rose Creedon, What Different Materials Conduct Electricity, (Mohawk Valley Christian Academy) and Dominique Pizzo-Palumbo, Biomass Breakdown, (Herkimer Jr./Sr. High School).

Judges included scientists from Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc., HCCC science faculty and HCCC President Ann Marie Murray. Students were awarded cash prizes.
