Hitting Clinic to be Held at HCCC

Hitting Clinic to be Held at HCCC thumbnail

Herkimer, NY—Herkimer County Community College will hold a “Junior Generals” hitting clinic. HCCC’s head softball Coach PJ Anadio and his staff will run the clinic for boys and girls of all ages hoping to improve their offensive game.

The clinic will begin on Sunday, January 10 and will run for six consecutive Sundays, ending on February 14. It will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the College’s varsity gymnasium and batting cage. A post-camp movie and pizza party will be open to campers after the last session on February 14, lasting until 9:30 p.m.

The fundamentals of hitting will be broken down and taught to make campers more complete hitters and to provide a better understanding of the swing. Bunting and base running will also be covered. Techniques will be taught to improve performance through a series of fun and innovative “big league” drills that each camper will be able to use for years to come. The development of baseball/softball skills will be the main focus, but building successful off-the-field characteristics and learning life lessons through the game will be covered. Anadio’s coaching experience includes time with the Little Falls Miners and as an assistant coach with the HCCC baseball program. He recently was appointed head coach of the HCCC softball team.

Campers should bring their own bats and gear and athletic attire. Sneakers are required. The cost is $60 for the six-week clinic or $15 per individual session. Participating in the entire six-week clinic is recommended for proper instruction and overall camper success. Campers participating in the post-camp pizza party will be subject to an additional $10 charge to cover food and drink. For more information or to register, contact Anadio at (518) 848-6693 or peter.anadio@herkimer.edu.
