Herkimer, NY—Herkimer County Community College’s Diversity Committee announces a presentation, “Team Dynamics and Diversity: Principles of Sports Psychology” by Jason Rathbun, HCCC’s Head Baseball Coach. It will be held on Wednesday, March 3 at 1 p.m. in room 288 in the Robert McLaughlin College Center.

Rathbun will discuss several topics related to sports psychology focusing on group dynamics and diversity. Group dynamics is the process of making friends and developing into a cohesive and supportive group. When dealing with group dynamics one has to consider the diversity of the group. Diversity, which represents any way in which people differ, is one of the most important issues in sports and physical activity today. Researchers have shown that group diversity can influence a number of outcomes, such as communication patterns, attitudes toward one’s position, fund-raising capabilities and overall team performance.

This presentation is one in a series of presentations sponsored by the College’s Diversity Committee. It is free and open to the public.
