Kelberman Center to Host Inaugural Biking, Hiking Event thumbnail

(Utica, NY – July 23, 2010) The Kelberman Center will host its inaugural Adventures for Autism fundraiser on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Russell Park in Ilion.  Complete with healthy activities and entertainment, this event is a wonderful opportunity for families to join together to raise funds and awareness for those affected with an autism spectrum disorder.

Biker registration and check-in begins at 10 a.m. while a safety meeting starts at 10:30 a.m.  Participants should be aware that the course is designed for experienced mountain bikers.  The five mile race begins at 11 a.m.  Registration for the one-mile autism awareness hike begins at 12 noon.  The peaceful hike throughout the wide trails at Russell Park is geared towards all members of the family and begins at 1 p.m.  From 12 noon to 4 p.m. there will be food, activities, games, entertainment, and a chance auction.  Underground Season will provide live music beginning at noon while illusionist Leon Etienne will entertain starting at 2 p.m.  At 3 p.m. the chance auction results will be revealed.

Online pre-registration is only available for the mountain bike race whereas registration for the hike takes place the day of the event. There is no registration fee for the hike but donations are appreciated.  Online pre-registration for the bike event will end Tuesday, August 3.  Registration will re-open the morning of the event.  A $25 registration fee is required.  To register for the bike event, visit kelbermancenter.org.
